Group show at Cultura Surplus, Mexico City
Ontological Drama nr. 3 by Styrmir Örn Guðmundsson, Martín Escalante, Raúl Góngora, Alexander Krone, Jurgis Paškevičius, Kurt Hollander, Luz María Sánchez, Brynjar Helgason, DEAR and Rogelio Sosa.
The first exhibition at Cultura Surplus in 2015, as well as the first group show in the history of the gallery. In this exhibition curator Gabriel Mestre has prepared a reasoned review with extracts of six projects that were carried out last year, bringing them with works by artists with whom he had collaborated in other years. Likewise, it provokes and includes collaborations with artists who work with the gallery for the first time, inviting them to join the poetic production of the project. Rather than promoting institutional memoir reviews, that homogenized and flatten the artistic contents, Ontological Drama nr. 3 opens new circles, not closes them, and encourages further research formulated in different directions. The exhibition title is borrowed from a series of works in which the Lithuanian artist Jurgis Paskevicius, has recently begun to experiment and we have been caught with the same interest as he explores the creation of synesthetic meanings through an interesting methodology, where the names of things are confused with their uses by adding other layers of content.
The exhibition will be open only by appointment from February 3rd to 12th.
Special thanks to Reurbano Group for providing the space to show our contemporary art projects.
