Lecture in the UK by Steinunn Þórarinsdóttir
Voyage – The Art of Steinunn Þórarinsdóttir
Monday, 22nd February, 5.30pm
Wilberforce LR 9, University of Hull
The internationally acclaimed sculptor Steinunn Þórarinsdóttir will be coming to the University of Hull in February 2016 to talk about her world renowned and distinctive art work. Specifically, Steinunn will discuss her exhibitions BORDERS (displayed outside the United Nations HQ in New York), PLACES (exhibited in the public spaces of Copenhagen) and the permanent sculpture Voyage (which we are privileged to have here in Hull). The latter is a striking figure located near to the Deep. It looks out towards its twin in Iceland, symbolising almost 1000 years of history between the two societies.
This is sure to be a fascinating event for all those interested in sculpture most specifically, but also art, history and politics more generally.
This is a public talk. A wine reception will be held after the event.
