Corazon Vizcaya: Screening + Q&A.
Thursday, October 20 | 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The screening will take place in Vizcaya’s Courtyard and will be followed by a Q&A session led by Wouters with Sigurdarson and Corazon Vizcaya cast and crew.
Magnús Sigurdarson studied art at Studio Cecil and Graves, Florence, Italy (1988), The Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts (1992) and Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA (1997). He currently lives and works in Miami Beach, Florida.
His works display a remarkable range of approaches, from interventions in public space and sculptural installations to intimate photographic and video work. Much of Magnús‘s recent work deals with themes of displacement and alienation, often drawing on the artist‘s personal experiences of living and traveling for extended periods away from his native Iceland, but infused with a gentle humor that moderates the serious subject matter.
