Newly graduates open in Galleri Arnstedt
Opening May 1
Arnstedt Gallery opens the season presenting a group show with last year graduates from Malmö Art Academy. The exhibition contains works of four artists, Daniel Peder Askeland, Martin Berring, Una Margret Árnadóttir and Tiril Hasselknippe, all presenting works in different medium.
Daniel Peder Askeland creates paintings that revolve around landscape and nature but which also contains some sort of abstract geometric compositions. Askeland forms a timeless world without rules where he lets the geometry to account for the stable and unchanging.
Martin Berring says he “is a gardener who cultivates his paintings in color mass soil.” Berring works in long series where each painting arises from the former, and where the brush bow contains light, air, composition and character.
Una Margret Árnadóttir creates a moving image, an object and a text for the viewer to relate to. Her works are often humorous as she gladly participates personally in her films, exposing herself to absurd situations to reach out to what is true and to increase understanding and awareness of reality. Árnadóttir says that humor is her life preserver.
Tiril Hasselknippe is a sculptor. She creates physical strong work, making sculptures that evoke feelings of hope and despair, fear and desire. She likes to see her sculptures to work as a life jacket for the imagination. She speaks of the sculpture as a stranger in the world as an uninvited guest that takes place in the room.
