Some things… | Guðný Rósa Ingimarsdóttir
24.01. – 21.o3.2020
ISELP is pleased to present a solo exhibition by the Icelandic artist Guðný Rósa Ingimarsdóttir. She unveils works produced in silence, restraint and economy of means. A stage in a frantic race : here, everything is set in order to measure time and watch a visual art unfold that unites the formal and the informal, technicality and finesse.
Guðný Rósa Ingimarsdóttir develops a world on the borders of the living and the sensitive, or the real and the fantasised, in a series of works made largely from cut, scraped, sewn, glued or assembled paper. Drifting between abstraction and figuration, her universe is made up of micro and macroscopic details that evoke organisms in the making, fictional constellations and even strange worlds.
The exhibition some things… presents some things that come from this unique world. A subtle world in which the thinking body is subject to internal emotions and external stimuli, it is this duality which constitutes our humanity just as much as the need for alterity.
Born in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1969, Guðný Rósa Ingimarsdóttir has lived and worked in Brussels since 1995. In Belgium, she is represented by the Irène Laub Gallery, Brussels, and in Iceland by the Hverfisgalleri, Reykjavik.
