Frame Visual Art Finland and the Helsinki International Artist Programme HIAP are looking for international curators of contemporary art to join the Helsinki International Curatorial Programme (HICP) in 2016.
A one-month residency will be offered to four curators, two in June and the other two in November. The June residency is located on the scenic UNESCO World Heritage island of Suomenlinna, and the November residency is at the vibrant Cable Factory arts centre. Both residencies are a 15-minute ferry or metro ride from the city centre of Helsinki.
The programme provides curators with an opportunity to carry out research and work on international curatorial projects while building contacts with art practitioners and cultural organisations in Finland.
Curatorial residencies cover travels costs to Helsinki and a grant for living expenses (39 euros a day), studio accommodation, residency services and administrative support. HIAP and Frame will both offer practical assistance, networking support and a critical context for the residents’ curatorial research and projects.
We will present the current work of each curator in residence by organising a public event such as a lecture, workshop or film screening. The curators are invited to join the HIAP international residency community and take part in all HIAP events. Frame will provide every possible assistance to curators wishing to form contacts with Finnish artists and other art professionals.
The application period is 1–31 October. The deadline for applications is October 31, 2015 (11:59pm, GMT +2).
