Neptún Magazine’s issue #03 has been released. Neptún is an Icelandic printed journal concerned with the visual arts, design and a variety of creative pursuits. It was first released in January of 2014 and is published approximately once or twice a year. Although artists from around the world are regularly featured on its pages, Neptún’s main concern is the Icelandic local scene. The third issue features an interview with Steina Vasulka, one of the world’s leading pioneers in video art. Furthermore, the issue featues a range of creatives such as artist-run space Ekkisens, After 6 Tattoos, rap group I:B:M, sweater author Ýrúrarí, graphic designer Sigurður Oddsson, and many more.
The journal is available in bookstores and museums in Iceland. Additionally, it has been distributed worldwide, to New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Singapore, Tokyo and Dubai, to name a few. Neptún has participated in the Friends With Books Art Book Fair Berlin and I Never Read Basel Art Book Fair, and was awarded the FÍT / Icelandic Graphic Design Association Awards and The Reykjavík Grapevine’s “Looking forward to more” awards in the year 2015. This December, Neptún will again be a part of the Berlin Art Book Fair, held at the Hamburger Bahnhof.
Neptún Magazine is made by Kolbrún Þóra Löve and Helga Kjerúlf. Kolbrún is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Amsterdam, and Helga is based in Berlin where she studies sound engineering.
