3-8 MONTH RESIDENCIES FOR ARTISTS, SCHOLARS AND PRACTITIONERS AT ZK/U BERLIN
Every half a year ZK/U welcomes new applications from artists, scholars and practitioners for a place in the residency programme. The ZK/U residency is a production space where artists, researchers and practitioners can meet and work on individual or collaborative projects and ideas. The programme consists of various formats for exchange with selected and broader audiences. The residency space offers studio-apartments and communal facilities; the costs for which are between €550 and €850 for individual fellows depending on type of studio-apartment and length of stay.
The current open call is open for applications from October 4th until December 16th, 2018.
ZK/U welcomes artists, scholars and practitioners that concern themselves with the phenomenon of ‘the city’. The programme is open to a range of contemporary artistic positions that are conceptual, interventionist and contextual. Artists are expected to have a broad record of projects and exhibitions. Scholars and practitioners should have some years of professional experience. One can apply individually or as a group. Group applications consisting of artists working together with scholars or practitioners from other disciplines are especially welcome.
ZK/U encourages applications from aspiring residents whose own practices fit into ZK/U’s conceptual frame, and invites fellows to involve themselves with the residency programme and propose their own formats. In the frame of this Open Call, ZK/U is particularly interested in initiatives that create spaces for encounter and exchange between citizens from diverse backgrounds; formats that question and reclaim urban infrastructure and public space for the commons; practices that make global complexities graspable in a local context; and projects that imagine forms of local belonging within post-migration societies. As such, the ZK/U aims to be a platform for active-collaborative, socially engaged and locally involved art and research praxis.
