RÝMD Summer Residency Open Call

We are excited to announce that RÝMD will be hosting our first ever summer artist residency programme! This summer, RÝMD’s main gallery space in Breiðholt will be converted into studios and we invite current students of LHÍ to apply for this opportunity. The residency will last from 1 July – 22 August, and it culminates in an exhibition in the gallery. Depending on the volume and nature of the applications, 1-2 artists will be selected.

We are located at Völvufell 13-21 in Breiðholt. Below our space is The Living Art Museum’s collection and archive, and around us is a residential neighbourhood. As the building is shared, please note that there are certain limitations to the nature of work that can be made in the space. Please get in touch with us if you are unsure about anything regarding this. The residency offers access to RÝMD as studio space for the duration of the residency, as well as a week-long exhibition at the start of the Fall Semester. There are very basic tools in the space, but the artist-in-residence is responsible for any tools or equipment beyond that, as well as all the materials to produce their work. We also request that the artist-in-residence would be willing have at least 1 open studio day during the residency for the community to see the progress of the residency, or another event of that nature. We welcome both concrete project proposals as well as general proposals of interest. Applications that engage the overall art community as well as the local community in Breiðholt are highly encouraged. Note that this residency does NOT include housing and the artist-in-residence may not at any time be use the space for that.

Please include in your submission:
– Your basic info: name, phone number, website, email and what year of school you are in.
– Maximum 1-page proposal. How would this residency benefit you and what do you plan to do during your time?
