The project, WAY OVER, initiated by the Icelandic Art Center is aiming at promoting Icelandic art abroad and creating a platform for Icelandic artists to connect with international galleries, collectors and curators. The project was inaugurated during the Armory Show art fair in New York in 2015 where the Art Center hosted an event where these art professionals were lead together.
This year the Icelandic Art Center was delighted to launch the first book of the “Way over” series. The book “Way over – seven conversations with Icelandic artists” offers an in depth look at seven Icelandic artists that have collaborated with the Icelandic Art Center in the recent years.
Artists presented in the book are
- Egill Sæbjörnsson
- Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson
- Gudlaug Mía Eythorsdottir
- Styrmir Örn Guðmundsson
- Katrín Agnes Klaar
- Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir
- Ívar Valgarðsson
Arnar Freyr Guðmundsson and Birna Geirfinnsdóttir are the design team behind the book, with Klara Þórhallsdóttir as editor. The book launch event took place in Berlin in the beginning of June 2016 during the Berlin Biennale. It was released in collaboration with Crymogea publishing in Iceland.
