Haraldur Jónsson (b. 1961) lives and works in Reykjavík. He graduated from the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts in 1987, the Kunstakademie, Düsseldorf in 1990, and studied at the Institut des Hautes Études en Arts Plastiques, Paris. In his work Haraldur focuses on everyday emotions and relations, presented and evoked through the use of various media. His drawings, performances, sculptures, photographs, and sound installations reflect his interest in the intimacy of things and the subtlety of our surroundings, that we as adults often overlook or have grown accustomed to. Performative encounters with the audience, responses to different situations as well as an interplay of perception and language in the gap between feelings, is a recurrent element in his art.
