Excuse Me

From the 10th of January to the 14th of February the exhibition Excuse me will be available for viewing during the opening hours at Ásmundarsalur gallery.

The formal opening will be on the 14th of January at 17.00.

All protocols regarding the pandemic will be respected and we ask guests to wear masks.

The art collective EXCUSE US celebrates young female artists from different art disciplines. Sísí Ingólfsdóttir and Íris Stefanía Skúladóttir founded the group with the aim of taking space, creating space and giving space.

We take space, create conditions and give space to artists and others who have not been given space to create art in current circumstances. We focus on young women in the widest possible context.

The exhibition Excuse me is a social and experience art exhibition. An exhibition that transcends art forms where performing arts, visual arts, writing, video art, design and music overlap. Guests are invited into the woman’s home. There, the woman and all her worlds and realities will be addressed with an emphasis on the role of motherhood, whether you are a mother or not, want to become a mother or not, can become a mother or not.
The project can be divided into three parts; The exhibition itself, the guided tours (a performance) through the exhibition, and event Sitting at the same table where the group offers space to women who want to discuss matters of the heart.

📌 Upstairs – The woman’s dining room and lounge
📌 Hallway and toilet upstairs – The menstrual cycle and the blood
📌 Gryfjan – The woman’s bedroom
The basement – The woman’s office and everything she does not want anyone to see
📌 Toilet downstairs – The woman who chooses not to have children
