The exhibition will be open as of January 16th

A warm welcome to The Living Art Museum’s first exhibition of the year 2021! Is the spirit aware of the matter? Is a group exhibition featuring works by Ragnheiður Gestsdóttir, Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir and Sindri Leifsson. The exhibition will be open during the museum’s traditional opening hours, Wednesdays to Sundays from 12-6 pm, from Saturday January 16th until Sunday February 28th.

The exhibition is an exploration of the systems that mankind has created for itself throughout history. Social, economic, political and cultural systems of Western society that shape and determine the reality in which we live, and is in fact also highly influenced by the natural pull that affects our senses.

That what has taken place does not disappear. Most processes of daily life, natural and man-made, preserve some form of matter – it might evaporate but always falls back to earth in the form of rain, for example. The same goes for human history, which piles up and lays the foundation for the future that lies ahead – but only if it has been well documented, measured or mirrored. Otherwise, nothing really happens.

The works in the exhibition reflect the artist’s efforts to analyze and make visible the influence these systems are based on and human beings find so difficult to resist.
