On Thursday the 17th of Andreas Brunner opens the exhibition I HAD CAKE FOR BREAKFAST in the window of Outvert Art Space, Andreas is the fourth and last artist of MǪRSUGUR 2022.

Mǫrsugur is the third month of winter according to an old Icelandic calendar. Mǫrsugur is the darkest time of the year when all living breath lies in hibernation. To brighten up those dark weeks four artists will project their works on the window of Gallerí úthverfa / Outvert Art Space in the center of Ísafjörður. The exhibition Mǫrsugur lasts for two months and the individual exhibitions last for 12 days each.

I HAD CAKE FOR BREAKFAST is a video performance recorded on the balcony of the Art Museum in Akureyri and showcases an irrational attempt of eating a pile of snow.

Andreas Brunner (b. 1988 in Zurich, Switzerland) works within the field of Contemporary Art and is currently based in Reykjavik. He studied fine arts at Lucerne University of Applied Science and Arts and did his postgraduate studies at the Iceland University of the Arts, graduating in 2018. His artistic practice gravitates around concepts referring to cultural development and their performative aspect of meaning creation process.

The disconnection of metaphoric meaning and the creation of reason through dynamic conjunction rather than connections can be seen as an overall motive in his research.
