Hamraborg Festival is an annual festival that has been held since 2021, but the festival focuses on visual art, site specific works, performance art and social engagement. The festival grew out of Midpunkt: the artist-run exhibition space operating since 2018 in Hamraborg. The festival is sponsored by the Art and Culture Council of Kópavogur.
This year, over 70 artists are participating in the festival, including visual artists, performance artists, bands and comic book writers. The pool of artists is very international this year but artists from e.g. Japan, Finland, UK and Poland are travelling to Iceland especially to participate in the festival. Among the participating artists are Úlfur Eldjárn, Ásrún Magnúsdóttir & Benni Hemm Hemm, Mio Hanaoka and Onirisme Collectif (Japan), Elísabet Birta Sveinsdóttir, Egill Logi Jónasson, Miukki Kekkonen (Finland) and Fræbbblarnir.
