Paradoxes: artwork made of books

I invite you to read a title on a paper roll and bring to mind a thought or an image. In that way we can perhaps let the old title touch upon the fleeting moment.
The titles converse in their quiet way. They belong to literary work from a different period but can nonetheless connect with us. When books lose their place, but still are honored as works of art, they become monuments of the paradoxes at the core of our language and culture.

In recent years, old books have been the main source of ideas and inspiration in my artwork. I have a peculiar interest in transforming books into artwork, reverberating the great literary phenomenon that they are.

The pieces are rolled up pages dipped into Pelikan-ink, plated with very thin wax. They were made in Reykjavík 2020.
