Homing the Home

6 May26 May

For the inaugural exhibition of Annabelle’s home Styrmir Örn Guðmundsson encloses the space. His wallpaper “Subliminal Playground” is doing the ‘homing’, evoking movement and offering imagination. It “homes” while providing the interior for his three large scale drawings. A premiere for Iceland, his drawings refer to motifs relating to the Icelandic landscape and his own personal mythology. The works in the exhibition are dedicated to Styrmir’s teacher, Paul van den Berg from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.

Atagata explores multi-dimensions and uses enchantment as she is led by her inner eye to activate the inner light. This light or unconstrained energies are channeled from the position of her hand-made ceremonial carpets. Atagata will perform in collaboration with Styrmir on the opening.

Annabelle’s home is a new project space opening in Reykjavík. As we experience the Copernican trauma of AI, Annabelle’s home will offer a series of exhibitions that explore empathy, connectedness and spirituality. To home or “að Heima” is a working concept for the exhibition space, for the production of and, inevitable for the experience of art.
