The exhibition project “Earth Homing: Reinventing Turf Houses” takes place this summer from 8 August – 9 September 2018 at Lækningaminjasafn on Grotta. Two of the projects are large scale installations involving made out of turf. The curator Annabelle von Girsewald together with the prominent visual artist and Associate Professor of Fine Art at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, Ólöf Nordal and Guðjón Stefán Kristinsson, turf builder and professor at Agricultural University of Iceland (Ladbúnaðarháskólinn) are offering a two-part internship in the form of a workshop. The students will learn about the turf building tradition including, cutting, drying and building. The first part of the internship takes place mid-June for 1 week and the second the end of July for 1 week. The internship is open to art students, architecture students and agriculture students. In total there are 10 positions available.
