Linger

Samsýning / Group Exhibition

Staldraðu við, kynningarmynd, Danny Rolph.

This group exhibition presents works by eight artists from England and Iceland, focusing on art as a process and its inner logic to connect, not only to us, the viewer, but also to its surroundings.

Linger is when we tend to stay longer because of a reluctance to leave. That reluctance is often driven by a wistful longing, even though we don’t necessarily know why and what it is that we long for. What we know is that we must linger.

The exhibition poses several questions about what happens when we are confronted with works that demand that we engage and be affected. Works that in their innocence and intimate situation are risk-taking. The artists then use different means and techniques to approach these questions.

The participating artists are Anna Hrund Másdóttir, Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson, Danny Rolph, Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir, Joel Tomlin, Kristinn Már Pálmason, Peter Lamb and Vanessa Jackson.

The exhibition is curated by Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson and Mika Hannula.

Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson and Mika Hannula have been collaborating since 2002, after first meeting in Istanbul while working on the show Stop for a Moment, Painting as Narrative at the contemporary art museum Proje4L. Not only have they collaborated on numerous shows in different places but also several publications.
