Group Exhibition / Samsýning

 is an exhibition by six artists whose art is under the influence of ArtScience.  ArtScience is a philosophy that explores the common grounds of art and science, highlighting that both fields study the environment and the human senses. It refers to this shared foundation of art creation and scientific research and its under this curiosity driven research of the senses that the works of the exhibition were created.

The artists are all recent graduates from the ArtScience department of The Royal Academy of the Arts in The Hague; Kristján Steinn Kristjánsson (IS), Sunna Svavarsdóttir (IS), Sophia Bulgakova (UA), Jesus Canuto Iglesias (ES), Þórir Freyr Höskuldsson (IS) and Þórður Hans (IS).

Ásmundarsalur was built in 1933 as an artist's studio by one of Iceland’s premier and most loved sculptors Ásmundur Sveinsson. Throughout the years it has served as an artist studio and residence, exhibition space and art school. It has also been the birthplace of some of the most important early avant-garde activities in Iceland. Ásmundarsalur has recently reopened after two years of extensive renovations. The main focus was on bringing forward the original funkis architecture of the building. Ásmundarsalur is a privately run, nonprofit art space that is dedicated to all forms of art and design. This includes the performing arts with an emphasis on highlighting their diversity and interplay between the various art forms.
