Rate of Rotation

Vilhjálmur Yngvi Hjálmarsson

Vilhjálmur Yngvi Hjálmarsson: Snúningshraði

In the exhibition "Rate of Rotation", Vilhjalmur's main emphasis is on his own creative process, which is largely characterised by experimentation. Ideas need time and space to flourish, so Vilhjalmur prefers not to stick to one specific medium. But the works themselves are created based on various triggers; something noteworthy in a walk, or a conversation. The triggers spring from Vilhjalm's curiosity and interest in his surroundings, for something he doesn't quite understand himself or wants to understand better. Vilhjalmur graduated with a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2022. He is the co-founder of the art association post-dreifing and is in the bands Korter í flog and Glupsk. Vilhjálmur recently showed work in London at the group exhibition 'Nothing Pure' in IMT gallery. Rate of Rotation is Vilhjálm's first solo exhibition.
