The Gentle Web of Generations
Samsýning / Group Exhibition

The Gentle Web of Generations - Exhibition by the Organization of Icelandic Visual Artists at Hlöðuloft Korpúlfsstaðir 5th – 27th April 2025.
The exhibition is FÍM's first exhibition project in some time and is set up as a meeting and conversation between six older artists and as many younger artists, all of whom have created remarkable careers. Birta Guðjónsdóttir, the project's curator, examines the threads that lie between the generations of artists.
The exhibitors are Brák Jónsdóttir, Eyjólfur Einarsson, Fritz Hendrik IV, Habby Osk, Jóhanna Bogadóttir, Kristín Geirsdóttir, Kristín Karólína Helgadóttir, Kristín Jónsdóttir frá Munkaþverá, Magnús Helgason, Örn Þorsteinsson, Valgerður Bergsdóttir and Valgerður Sigurðardóttir.
The exhibition project of the Organization of Icelandic Visual Artists, the oldest visual arts association in the country, The Gentle Web of Generations highlights how an association like FÍM has and can continue to be a catalyst for increased connections between generations of artists and different art forms.
The project's curator, Birta Guðjónsdóttir, chose six older artists against the same number of younger artists to participate in the exhibition, and the artists' ages span a wide range, with the oldest artist born in 1933 and the youngest in 1996.
In the preparation process for the exhibition, Birta recorded an interview or conversation between the exhibitors she had previously paired together. These conversations revealed many unexpected and fun connections, and the impact of these unexpected encounters will undoubtedly be felt in the artists' meeting in the space of Hlöðuloftið at Korpúlfsstaðir.
The exhibition is open Thursdays to Sundays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
