Mirjam Maekalle Edinborgarhusid

In the exhibition "The Little Estonian Who Could (Part I)," Mirjam Maekalle works with photographs from her childhood in Estonia before she moved with her family to Iceland. A land that was not part of her existence until 2002. Through the pictures, the exhibition explores an individual in formation and her relationships with her loved ones. It considers identity and transformations in the personality of someone who changes their environment.

Mirjam Maekalle is an artist born in Estonia and raised in Ísafjörður but now lives in Reykjavík. She graduated with a BA degree in Fine Arts from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2023. She also holds a BA degree in comparative literature from the University of Iceland, a background she effectively utilizes in her artwork where the subject matter often concerns the human condition.
