,,In my multidisciplinary figurative work I channel cuteness, archetypes and the divine feminine of nature (present in all people, places and things), blending mythological creatures, personifications and symbolism. The creatures that surround them are amorphic beings of the universe, who bubble up as armour. In my work each part of the body is often inhabited by a separate entity, as if each part has its own personality, governing its own landscape. These creatures lend their resilient softness as a forcefield of protection. I believe in Animism, which deems that everything has a life force and its own agency. Thus each body part, each shape, is alive with its own energy. With these characters I collaborate to repel negativity and promote the magic present in nature.I am interested in the re-examination of female characters that have been demonized in the past. For this show I have been researching Lilith, the first woman. Her strength of character and rebellion has been considered obscene through history and is coming into the light to be reexamined. I have made new works while channeling Lilith’s energy.”Jasa Baka (b.1981) is a Canadian Vestur-Íslendingur and multidisciplinary artist, living and working in Reykjavík since 2017. She is a graduate from the MA of Fine Art at Icelandic University of the Arts (2022). In Tiohtiá:ke aka Montréal, Canada she obtained her BFA at Concordia University with a specialization in Design for Theatre (2008). She has shown work and performed abroad in Montréal, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Brooklyn and Athens, Greece. She has shown work in various galleries in Reykjavík and this past summer had a solo show at Safnasafnið in Eyjafjörður.  Algjörar Skvísur | Total Babes is an ongoing project that will continue to evolve in different ideations in the future.
