María Dalberg: Uncontainable truth

Open 11th of June – 11th of July 2021

A two screen film installation “Uncontainable truth” (2021) by María Dalberg opens at Künstlerhaus Bethanien on the 11th of June in Berlin. María Dalberg’s work revolves around the intersection between music and language. She writes sound poems, either fictional or non-fictional. Her work is multidisciplinary, most known for her video installations. Using both analog and digital technologies she develops and manipulates audiovisual material. Interested in faraway places, both mental and physical Dalberg employs research methods from her academic history studies, including artifacts and archival material. In her current work, she focuses on the voices of lower-class women found in Icelandic manuscripts from the Enlightenment and the Romantic period.

María Dalberg graduated with MA in fine art from The Icelandic Art Academy in 2016. The same year she was chosen to show at the Moscow International Biennale for Young Art and has since then exhibited in many other international exhibitions and film festivals. Dalberg opened her first solo exhibition in Reykjavík Art Museum 2018.
