To mark the 25th anniversary of the joint Nordic embassy complex in Berlin, the exhibition "Summation" reflects upon Queen Margrethe II of Denmark’s words “Each autonomous, and yet together”, formulated in 1999 as the guiding principle for the embassies’ unique collaboration in their new united premises. This slogan was meant to commemorate the embassies’ co-operative future in Berlin while also honouring the Nordic nations’ longstanding alliances.
The exhibition "Summation", which features ten leading contemporary artists from the Nordic countries, connects our understanding of the present with that of the past and speculates on what is yet to come. It sheds a gentle light on the nature of human existence as well as on our perception of temporality, memory, and emotions.
The exhibition is curated by Margrét Áskelsdóttir (IS). Ten artists from the Nordic countries show their works at the exhibition: A K Dolven (NO), Aksel Ree (NO), Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir (IS), Aura Hakuri (FI), Christian Partos (SE), Hanna Ljungh (SE), Hans Rosenström (FI), Jeppe Hein (DE), Mille Kalsmose (DE) and Ragnar Kjartansson (IS).
