The Icelandic Art Prize will take place for the seventh time on March 14 in Iðnó.
The program starts with performances and a „Welcome drink“ at 19:30, followed by the award ceremony at 20:00.
Prizes will be awarded for Artist of the Year, 1 million krona, and Motivational Awards, 500 thousand krona. In addition, special recognitions will be awarded for Publication on Visual Art, Retrospective of the Year, and Group Show of the Year. These awards are decided by a special jury. An Honorary Award is also awarded for lifelong artistic achievement, bestowed by the Visual Art Council.
After the ceremony, there will be a celebration and pre-release of the 4rd edition of the magazine Art in Iceland. Guests can buy a copy as well as older issues.
The Visual Arts Council initiated and hosts The Icelandic Art Prize. The purpose of the Prize is to award outstanding visual artists and encourage new artistic creations.
