All the Moving Lines, All the Shapeless Words

Patricia Carolina

Hreyfanlegar línur, formlaus orð, Patricia Carolina, 2024

The mouth filling up with restless lines.

I was a snake with two, three, five tongues–

a word that dreams of becoming. Working primarily with moving image, text and textile, artist Patricia Carolina investigates the contradictions, possibilities and politics of waste and water. Her practice often includes domestic and urban references, and engages with notions of language, grief and growth.

Born and raised in Mexico, Carolina graduated with a BA from Listahaskoli Islands in 2019, and an MFA from Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo in 2022. She lives between Mexico City and Oslo, and is an active member of “Verdensrommet”, the mutual support network for and by non-EU/EEA artists in Norway. Her work has been featured at Kunstnernes Hus (NO), The Living Art Museum (IS), KOIK Contemporary (MX),  SP-Arte (BR), Y Gallery (IS), The Nordic House (IS), K4 (NO), among others.
