As the Crow Flies

Hrafnkell Tumi Georgsson

Hrafnkell Tumi Georgsson, Loftlína.

In the exhibition Loftlína, Hrafnkell Tumi presents sculptures and video works. The multi-channel video shows simultaneous events taking place on different mountain peaks in South Iceland during sunset. Created over the past year, the works explore themes of communication and landscape in time and space. Hrafnkell often examines physical phenomena that influence our daily lives, employing simple technological solutions — solutions that often prove complex in execution. The works on display investigate different phases of perception that we alternate between in daily life, as well as the methods we use to understand and document the world around us.

Hrafnkell Tumi Georgsson (b. 1999) graduated with a BA in Fine Art from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2022. He primarily works with sculpture and video and works as a filmmaker alongside his artistic practice. Hrafnkell has exhibited works at the Reykjavik Winter Lights Festival 2023, List í Ljósi in Seyðisfjörður 2023, and It Plays Hard at the Nordic House in 2024. This is his first solo exhibition. Hrafnkell is on the Sequences festival advisory board.
