Guardians of nature

Ecaterina Botezatu

LG // Litla Gallerý - Kat (Ecaterina Botezatu) 2025

“Guardians of Nature” is a series of oil paintings that embody the delicate yet untamed spirit of the natural world, reflected through the figures of women.

Each painting captures the duality of nature—its grace and tenderness, yet also its power and resilience. Like the elements they emerge from, these women are forces of life, shaped by the landscapes around them. They are woven into the icy blues of glaciers, the fiery glow of lava, and the ethereal dance of the northern lights, existing as guardians of a world that is both breathtaking and fragile.

These paintings are deeply personal, inspired by a direct confrontation with the effects of climate change. Witnessing glaciers recede and landscapes shift in real time has left an imprint on the artist’s work. The series invites viewers to pause and acknowledge the fleeting moments of nature’s transformation—the way ice melts, how light changes, how landscapes evolve. There is a quiet urgency in these pieces, a call to recognize what is slipping away and to cherish the balance between strength and vulnerability before it is lost.
