I am here
Alda Rose Cartwright
The title of the exhibition I Am Here is a mantra that revolves around the idea of being present in the moment and connecting with the environment. This state can be attained without intention under certain circumstances that capture the stillness of time and space.
The subject matter of the works is plant life and other natural motifs that seem to dance on the surface, appearing as symbols that mark specific moments, places, or atmospheres. The repeated form of the pyramid recalls a cairn, a pile of stones erected as a landmark or memorial that leaves a mark on history.
Alda Rose Cartwright was born in California but is currently living in Iceland. She graduated from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a BFA in Graphic Design and Painting in 2008. Alda has exhibited her work widely, including in Iceland, the United States, and Europe.
