Kling & Bang hosts two exhibitions by artists of different generations; Guðrún Marta Jónsdóttir’s exhibition Silfurgjá and Magnús Sigurðarson’s exhibition HAPPY TALES of DEATH and MELANCHOLY, both of whose works have a strong connection to America.

Guðrún Marta’s exhibition Silfurgjá sheds new light on old history, beating an unexpected path through American and Icelandic politics and popular culture in the mid-20th century. Armed with humour, drama and tragedy she examines Icelanders’ identity and inferiority complexes in relation to American influence. Through video works and performance she drags the image of deceased politicans and Hollywood stars into the 21st century.

Guðrún Marta graduated from the Icelandic University of the Arts and now lives and works in Gothenburg.
