Reflections on the existence of human in the universe can be overwhelming but also incredibly exciting. Gazing up to the sky and looking for answers, where only more questions arise. Stars twinkle out of reach, living light, watching the world, watching me and you. Friends, benevolent guiding lights in the sky.

 
I bought myself proper watercolors last summer and started watercoloring, completely in the flow, with great enthusiasm. And lo and behold! Stars always wanted to sneak into the pictures. The works are all done in the last 10-12 months.

The exhibition also marks 10 years of working (on and off) with stars, when after graduating from the Iceland Academy of the Arts, I had the opportunity to work on a performance in Bucharest, Romania. I called the work “We are all stars”. The act involved me baking star-shaped cookies, at home in the apartment I was assigned, and then strolling with the sweet smelling treat through the streets of the city, offering it to those who came my way. It was a way to get to know people and society through something positive and well-known in many cultures. Many of the people I met, didn't understand English, but that was no barrier. Through gestures and star-shaped cookies, a common understanding and solidarity was created.
