Emil Jóhann Sigurðsson, Emil J. Sig. is a self-taught artist, who learned to paint through online courses. In 2021 he studied in Reykjavík Art School for 1 year, before he had taken several courses at Kópavogur Art School. This is his third show and the first with a water lily theme, but a few years ago he had a flower show and a mixed show. He started his artist´s career in Spain in 2017 when he lived there. 

The inspiration for these works in this exhibition comes from various sources including Icelandic nature, French culture, Monet and more. 

But why water lily pictures you may ask? I believe the world is in great upheaval and anxiety is increasing. That's why I wanted to paint pictures for this exhibition that create calmness and inner peace for the person. I want you, dear viewer, to imagine that you are at a pond by a calm lake with water lilies and you are relaxing in the present.

Exhibition opening is April  3rd from 18:00-20:00 and all are welcome!

Water Lilies

LG is a platform for visual artists who seek to communicate their artistic creations to the public and thus be an active participant in Icelandic contemporary art. We emphasize on visual art in all media and forms and want to create a conversation between Icelandic and foreign artists with the public and art lovers. Our aim is to be an attraction for the art- and culturelife for Hafnarfjordur by holding regular exhibition events. The space is run on a non-profit basis.
