Svavarssafn

The art museum of Svavar Guðnason, is a contemporary art museum in Höfn in Hornafjordur. It is named after one of the more important Icelandic painters of the 20th century, Svavar Guðnason, who was born in Höfn in 1909, and became the pioneer of abstract painting in Iceland as well as attaining global recognition through the COBRA-movement.

The core of the museum collection consists of the works of Svavar, various other people from Hornafjordur and artists who have created their work in the southeastern part of Iceland or been inspired by it.
